Zack Stachowski

I have known Zack for many years, ever since he was a young prodigy violinist in the greater Detroit, Michigan area, where he began playing as part of the music ministry at St. Blaise parish in Sterling Heights.  Holding degrees in violin performance from Butler University in Indiana and the University of Maryland, Zack has chosen to dedicate and engage his talents in the vocation of liturgical music, not only as a violinist – but as a cantor, guitarist, parish music director and in recent years, as a liturgical composer.  Presently he serves as Director of Music at St. Ignatius of Loyola in Ijamsville, Maryland, and now has several titles published with GIA Publications that cover a wide variety of styles and genres.  A former participant and in recent years, an important member of the team and faculty of Music Ministry Alive, Zack and I collaborated together on a recorded collection of music entitled God Never Tires (GIA).  But his ministry in pastoral music does not end there – together with his friend Matt Reichert, he is the co-host of an already popular podcast series, Open Your Hymnal (www.openyourhymnal.com); and the two of them have embarked on a new effort toward the formation of young liturgical musicians, the One Call Institute (www.onecallinstitute.org) with their mutual friend, Jes Garceau.  Suffice it to say, it gives me great hope to know that there are people like Zack who have taken up the call to serve – and his music, his dedication to mentoring young people, and his love of God – makes for an already growing corpus of work that is already serving the sung prayer for Christians of all traditions.  And he has only just begun.  DH

All of the titles below include recordings (CD or as MP3’s),as well as printed music editions, either in a collection and also as individual editions, from GIA Publications (www.giamusic.com)

Please consider when ordering any of these resources, to choose, whenever possible, ordering directly from the particular publisher (the link for each item is usually provided), rather than going to Amazon or similar outlets.  When you order from these distributors, the royalties for the composer, as well as the publisher, are greatly compromised, as a substantial portion of the royalties go to the ordering source.  The options to order from Amazon are provided here in many cases (and obviously in some cases, certain items may be out of print from the publisher), but most often, you should be able to obtain these resources from the specific publisher,. So, think about it … choose differently, support the composers and authors who have created these resources, and click on the links provided here to order directly from the publisher.
