Over the years David’s music, his love of the liturgy, and wisdom under the banner of “The Emmaus Center for Music, Prayer and Ministry,” has touched the hearts and lives of many through the many concerts, workshops, retreats and talks that he has presented throughout North America and other parts of the world: both alone, and together with Lori True. Ever since his first parish concert in 1978, David continues to give of himself with his passionate leadership of sung prayer, and his commitment in fostering quality worship, music and movements in prayer and spirituality. His concerts are really not “concerts,” but rather, participatory celebrations of prayer and God’s presence. David’s wit and wisdom has reached and influenced many in parish ministry, and he is actively sought out as a speaker at major conferences each year, such as gatherings of The National Association of Pastoral Musicians; the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress; The Henri Nouwen Society; The National Catholic Education Association; The Mid-Atlantic Ministry Congress; The Hymn Society of the United States and Canada; The Big Island Liturgy and Arts Conference; the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry; The National Conference for Catechetical Leadership; The Southwest Liturgical Conference, The Center for Action and Contemplation, and many other diocesan, regional and national events.
In keeping with the mission and vision of the Emmaus Center, David, Lori and other associates of the Center regularly speak to topics in the areas of liturgy and sacramental practice, liturgical music, prayer and spirituality, youth ministry, and religious education. The Emmaus Center also from time to time sponsors events and programs throughout the greater twin city area to offer formation events in the areas of music, liturgy, and the spiritual life.
