Recordings & Collections by Lori True

The role of women in the creation of sung prayer for the liturgy has found a wonderful role model through the witness, the quality of craft, and the passionate attentive to ritual – in the person of Lori True.  Originally from upstate New York, and later in New Hampshire, Lori and her two daughters have been Minnesota residents for several years now, and her work in ministry has been seen in parish communities, in college campus ministry, and in her national work as a workshop presenter and concert performer.  Her liturgical compositions are published with GIA Publications, and alone and together with David, Lori has travelled throughout the United States, Canada, and Ireland to share her gifts with the wider Church.  In addition to her service in parish ministry, for several years Lori was Campus Minister for Liturgy and Music at St. Catherine University in St. Paul; the largest women’s college in the world.  She is the associate director of Music Ministry Alive, and now serves as Director of Ritual and Liturgy Services for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Paul Province.  Holding a deep passion for issues surrounding social justice and inclusion, her music blends together the strongest liturgical principles, a deep love of scripture, and a pastoral heart for the needs of a praying people.  Lori has partnered with me on many projects and causes around the areas of liturgy, music, spirituality, and I am excited to witness in recent years how people respond, not only to her compositions, but to her presence as a master cantor, a workshop and retreat leader, and as a woman of deep faith.  DH

All of the titles below include recordings (CD or as MP3’s), as well as printed music editions, either in a collection and also as individual editions, from GIA Publications (www.giamusic.com)

Please consider when ordering any of these resources, to choose, whenever possible, ordering directly from the particular publisher (the link for each item is usually provided), rather than going to Amazon or similar outlets.  When you order from these distributors, the royalties for the composer, as well as the publisher, are greatly compromised, as a substantial portion of the royalties go to the ordering source.  The options to order from Amazon are provided here in many cases (and obviously in some cases, certain items may be out of print from the publisher), but most often, you should be able to obtain these resources from the specific publisher,. So, think about it … choose differently, support the composers and authors who have created these resources, and click on the links provided here to order directly from the publisher.

May the Road Rise to Meet You

Lori’s wonderful setting of the Irish Blessing, “May the Road Rise to Meet You” has become a classic throughout the world.  Check out each of these three videos presenting this musical treasure: First, for a performance for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, by a youth choir in Ireland; then, a very unique presentation of the song at a live concert in Jakarta, Indonesia; and finally, a gorgeous sung performance by “Celtic Thunder” who feature Lori’s song on their recent CD, “Inspirational.”
