I have known Christian for several years now, as we are both regular participants in the annual Liturgical Composers Forum in St. Louis each year. He presently is the director of music at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Kettering, Ohio. He previously served for 15 years as the music director at Saint Dominic Savio Catholic Church in the St. Louis metro area. His music is published by World Library Publications and GIA.
Christian is a versatile keyboardist (an amazing keyboardist – seriously!) and conductor. Well-versed in a wide range of liturgical music, including chant, fork, contemporary, gospel, and ethnic music, I have come to enjoy and delight in how he can move in many different liturgical music “rooms.” He serves on the Music Committee for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, and he has been very generous in networking with other composers and colleagues. One of the ways he has been doing this important work has been his moderating the NPM Composers Facebook group.
In addition to being an excellent musician and an emerging composer – Christian is also a cartoonist, illustrator, and graphic designer. He and his wife, Joan, have been married since 2007 and have two children, Leah and Jonathan.
Very soon after he began his ministry at St. Charles Borromeo, he invited me to come to the parish and present a concert together with the various members of his music ministry and offer a workshop/retreat. What I saw and experienced was a very grateful community who have been blest by his ministry and his talents. I am always moved when I see such talented artists balance their artistic gifts with a genuine love of God and the people whom they serve. Christian accomplishes this with integrity. His ministry reflects this. His compositions certainly reflect this. As he moves forward in his craft I am confident that more and more people will come to sing and pray with his music, and learn from his example. Christian’s Psalm settings and his very creative arrangements provide a promise of more good things to come. God bless you, Christian! And those of you reading this – check out his music – you will be glad you did! (DH: 3.12.18)
Please consider when ordering any of these resources, to choose, whenever possible, ordering directly from the particular publisher (the link for each item is usually provided), rather than going to Amazon or similar outlets. When you order from these distributors, the royalties for the composer, as well as the publisher, are greatly compromised, as a substantial portion of the royalties go to the ordering source. The options to order from Amazon are provided here in many cases (and obviously in some cases, certain items may be out of print from the publisher), but most often, you should be able to obtain these resources from the specific publisher. So, think about it … choose differently, support the composers and authors who have created these resources, and click on the links provided here to order directly from the publisher.
