Since 1995, David’s association with Lori True has been a central part of his ministerial and pastoral work. Originally from the east coast and a former parish music and liturgy director, Lori is presently Director of Ritual and Liturgy Services for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in St. Paul; formerly serving as campus minister for liturgy and music at St. Catherine’s University, the largest women’s college in the United States. A master cantor and emerging liturgical composer, Lori’s presence, gifts, and pastoral sensitivity has touched the lives of many. Her well-known songs include A Place at the Table, Dream a Dream, May the Road Rise to Meet You, Let This be the Time, Quietly, Peacefully; Who is the Alien?, and One Lord.
David and Lori’s collaboration is known mostly through their joint appearances presenting concerts, retreats, and workshops at parish, diocesan and national events, and with Music Ministry Alive!, a national liturgical formation program for high school and college age youth. Among their many collections that they have produced separately, together they released a CD of their most commonly sung and prayed songs at their concerts, God Will Delight (GIA); and also collaborated together with Paul Tate, Sr. Kathleen Harmon, SNDdeN; and Stephen Pishner on a four volume comprehensive resource for the Liturgy of the Word, Cry Out with Joy (GIA). The energy, passion and commitment to quality music and liturgy that many experience at their many concerts, retreats, and workshops have been true celebrations of the Spirit; filled with prayer, humor, wisdom, and hope.
